I've just confirmed this same issue with a different third party keyboard and a different Mac. This time it was an iMac with a macally ikeyslim keyboard. Same error as I saw on the MacBook pro with the iHome keyboard. Apparently if you have a third party keyboard attached to your mac via USB (I don't know if this is true of Bluetooth keyboards) when you install the 10.6.8 software upgrade your Mac will not boot and you'll get a kernel panic error.
